Yoga is a great practice and one of my favourites.
All the poses and salutations, all the movements into parts of the body that are closed and creaky that are holding energies and keeping us stuck.
It is powerful in many ways.
One of my yoga teachers is so effusive and animated; he literally sings as he instructs and breaks into a barrage of spiritual truths as he reminds us of who we are and our journey on the earth.
Warriors he says we are, and friends and beloved, and yogis and so much more!
Speaking in riddles he disarms the defences as he encourages you to dive deep into the ocean of your own heart to feel more of your real self.
In moments of being curled up, arching back, twisted in different shapes with beads of sweat landing on my mat, I feel a peace. There is calm even beyond his words.
The sun salutations ends, the crescendo of mountain, eagle, warrior and wheel poses subsides, and in the final pose, shavasana – lying there – peace abounds and stillness is found. Not always, but when it is felt, it is beautiful and phenomenal.
Namaste. Or, as Jack from Will and Grace might say, Nama-stay away from me! 🙂
Take care, until next time!
